Books + food = fun!

I'm not the only person out there obsessed with both literature and food, and here's the proof. There's a new blog called Lashings and Lashings of Ginger Beer that features a food-focused literary passage each day. So far, they've posted on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Goblin Market, Swann's Way (The madeleine, of course!) and many, many others.

So, if you're jonesin' for a fix of food porn and can't wait for Louisa's first novel (Can't Stand the Heat, due out in the fall of 2009 from St. Martin's Press), head on over to Lashings and get your fill!

Ah! Thank you so much for the plug :)

And, please keep writing about Parisian restaurants (not that I need to ask you to do so, I'm sure) - I'm going to be there for a few days before Xmas to visit my best friend who's moved there - and I've decided we'll spend our time eating. Eating and walking around. But mostly eating. So, I'm going to follow in your footsteps.

Ooooh, I'm so jealous! Well, I insist you visit Camille, and you really have to make a trip to Pierre Herme - he has a store on rue Bonaparte in Saint-Germain, and one on rue Cambon, near Place Vendome. The tarte au cafe is one of the most amazing pastries I've ever eaten. And the macarons are bee-yoo-tee-full.

Oh, and Laduree, for more traditional tea-room pastries. Have the tarte au citron and the strawberry religieuse. Do it for me. :-)
